That partner was found in Jan van Dam Global Machine Logistics. What began with just 100 m² of storage space has now grown into a modern and certified 3,000 m² warehouse in Terneuzen. SMEC’s machines are safely stored and prepared here for transport throughout Europe.
One point of contact for everything
The cooperation goes far beyond providing space. SMEC deliberately chose a partner capable of overseeing and carrying out the entire process. Sea freight is arranged by a Korean partner, but all communication runs directly through Jan van Dam. Customs formalities are also handled by us. For SMEC, this means: one point of contact and no worries about complex procedures.
Upon arrival in the port, containers are transported to the Terneuzen warehouse by trucks from sister company Jan van Dam Machine Transport. There, we handle the complete container process of unloading the container and returning the empty container. Afterwards, the machines are unpacked and expertly prepared for storage.
In our warehouse, we manage SMEC’s European inventory. From this stock, we deliver machines on demand, immediately after sale, to end customers all across Europe.

When the machines are delivered to dealers, end customers, or exhibitions, Jan van Dam takes care of the entire machine transport. By road, throughout Europe. A good example of this is the EMO in Hannover, one of the most important trade fairs in the sector. For this event, we handle the entire process: from storage in Terneuzen to placing the machines on the exhibition floor. Without intermediaries and with the assurance that everything is delivered on time and set up correctly.
For SMEC, the decision to partner with Jan van Dam is based on three pillars: quality, punctuality, and reliability. We do what we say and say what we do. Exactly the certainty an international company like SMEC needs to successfully serve the European market.

Eight years ago, SMEC, a Korean manufacturer of metalworking machines, faced a problem. Their then logistics partner could not provide the reliability they needed. Machines did not always arrive on time, communication was difficult, and the quality of service was lacking. SMEC needed a dependable partner to manage storage and transport in Europe in a professional and punctual manner.
Every year, Robotech ships several injection molding machines from China to Europe. For this complex journey, they have relied on Jan van Dam Global Machine Logistics for many years.
