The partnership between 247TailorSteel and Jan van Dam goes back quite a while. ‘Our first contact was through a shared business relation, TRUMPF Netherlands,’ says Jan van Dam. ‘We’ve been a logistical partner for TRUMPF for years, and when 247TailorSteel bought a machine from them, we were asked to install it. That was the start of a great relationship. In recent years, we have installed or moved a total of more than 150 machines for 247TailorSeel, including to their factory in Germany.’
The partnership is now a well-oiled machine. ‘We know that if we call in Jan van Dam Machine Transport, our process won’t be disrupted,’ says James Schleitwiler, project engineer at 247. ‘The guys from Van Dam know everything about the machines. They also know our production environment and how to disassemble, transport and put the machines back in place as efficiently as possible. The contact with the planning and internal departments is also excellent. No matter when you call, they always answer the phone. They’re flexible and reliable and they work safely at all times. That’s really good to know.’
When the installation of the 150th machine was about to happen, a team from Jan van Dam went to 247TailorSteel with 250 pieces of cake. ‘We wanted to show how happy we are that we can do this work for them. We appreciate the fact that they really trust us. These are very expensive machines that are part of an important production process. You have to understand that process well, because a lot depends on it. We’re an important link in the chain and we’re really happy that they trusted us for such a long time.'
