Once again, this is a great example of “We cover it all.”
For De Ridder, we were entrusted with handling the logistics of a machine shipped from Japan to the Netherlands. It concerned a vertical machining center with accompanying components that arrived at the sea terminal in Rotterdam by flatrack and container.
The project was carried out under the direction of Jan van Dam Global Machine Logistics. This is another strong example of “We cover it all.” One single point of contact for the client and one party in control of the entire operation. This ensures clear communication and short lines of coordination.
Warehouse storage and customs formalities
After arrival at the terminal, the flatrack and container were collected by our sister company, Jan van Dam Machine Transport, and transported to our warehouse.
At the warehouse, we handled the entire process, including customs documentation, clearance, and shipment inspection. Everything is managed in one place, so the customer does not need to coordinate multiple parties.

Unpacking in the warehouse
At the warehouse, the machine components were unpacked and the packaging materials removed. More and more customers are choosing this approach. Unpacking at the warehouse ensures that the machine can be installed immediately at the end customer’s site. This saves time during installation, prevents packaging materials from being left on site, and avoids unsafe situations during unloading and unpacking. Additionally, the customer’s workflow is not disrupted, as everything arrives fully prepared.
Increasingly, customers also opt to keep European stock in our warehouses. This allows for direct delivery to end customers across Europe without the need for their own storage or additional staff.
After preparation in the warehouse, Jan van Dam Global Machine Logistics coordinated again with Jan van Dam Machine Transport for the transport and installation of the machine at the end customer’s site.
The strength of this process lies in the collaboration. Both companies work together daily and are perfectly in sync. Using their own equipment and trusted personnel, Jan van Dam Machine Transport safely delivered the machine components to the customer’s site in the eastern part of the country.
On site, the team handled the unloading, positioning, and anchoring of the machine. This work was carried out by specialists with over 35 years of experience in transporting and installing machinery within the metal and food industries.
Thanks to this approach, the project proceeds according to plan. The customer deals with a single party that understands and manages the entire process — from arrival at the port to installation on the shop floor.
