Flexibility in the face of unexpected delays
For Bystronic, a situation arose that is becoming increasingly common in practice. Machines were ready for delivery, but the construction of the end customer’s new facility was delayed. The factory had to be cleared, while the final location was not yet available. This requires a solution that goes beyond transport alone.
Instead of searching for storage or involving additional parties themselves, Bystronic entrusted this challenge to Jan van Dam Machine Transport. From this collaboration, temporary storage in their own warehouses was proposed. The machines were collected directly from the factory and stored across locations in Oudewater and Terneuzen. This kept the process moving and allowed Bystronic to maintain control over the planning.

The project consisted of a complete delivery of a laser cutting machine, automation system, storage system, and press brake. The press brake was stored in Oudewater, while the other installations were stored in Terneuzen. Ultimately, the machines remained in storage for ten months, awaiting completion of the new facility.
This approach gave Bystronic the flexibility to respond to their customer’s needs. There was no need to arrange storage themselves or coordinate multiple parties. Everything remained under the management of a single partner, with short lines of communication and clear coordination
As soon as the new building was completed, the machines were called off and scheduled for transport and installation. Because storage and logistics were managed within one organization, the transition could be executed quickly. The shift from storage to delivery took place without delays or handover issues.
For the end customer, this meant a smooth start. Machines were delivered at the right time and installed with precision. For Bystronic, it primarily meant peace of mind and control over the process, despite the earlier delay.

✔ Temporary storage in case of delayed completion of new construction
✔ Own warehouses at three strategic locations in the Netherlands
✔ Complete installation stored and delivered flexibly
✔ Transport, storage, and installation via one partner
✔ No additional coordination or intermediaries required
✔ Enabling machine suppliers to remain flexible towards end customers

When completion of a new location is delayed, flexible storage and delivery offer a solution. One partner handles transport, storage, and installation without extra intermediaries.
