Good cooperation starts with preparation

The cooperation between Okuma Benelux and Jan van Dam Machine Transport began sixteen years ago, when Okuma Benelux was still known as Gelderblom. During the first project, Jan van Dam Machine Transport demonstrated what it could do. This grew into a strong and close partnership.

Over the years, this cooperation has become an integral part of the way Okuma Benelux prepares new projects. As soon as a machine has been sold, Ron, as project manager at Okuma Benelux, visits the customer to assess where the machine will be installed and what is required. For larger and more complex installations, the specialists from Jan van Dam Machine Transport are already involved at this stage.

Together, they assess the route into the building, the available space, the installation requirements and the equipment needed. If automation is part of the project, the specialists involved are also included in the preparations. This ensures that everyone knows in advance what needs to be done on site.

From customs clearance to installation and anchoring

Over the years, Jan van Dam Machine Transport has taken on more and more responsibilities for Okuma Benelux. As soon as Okuma Benelux has sold a machine, they contact us. Jan van Dam Global Machine Logistics then takes care of the customs clearance.

The team at Jan van Dam Machine Transport collects the machine, provides specialised transport to the customer and takes care of unloading and positioning it on site.

Anchoring Okuma machines has also been entrusted to Jan van Dam Machine Transport for many years. Okuma Benelux takes care of the final installation, instruction and training itself.

Peace of mind on site

For Ron, the value of the partnership is not only in the work carried out by Jan van Dam Machine Transport. It is especially about the people, their knowledge and the way they work on site. They know the machines, understand what is expected of them and remain calm throughout the installation.

Some projects stay with you

One project that Ron will always remember is a large delivery at Witec Group in Stadskanaal. For several days, he worked together with the employees of Jan van Dam Machine Transport to install a machine consisting of multiple components.

Early in the morning, everyone arrives on site together. The sun slowly rises while everyone prepares for another working day. Then the work begins, with everyone knowing their role and what needs to be done.

And then Friday afternoon arrives. The machine is in the right position, the work has been completed to everyone’s satisfaction and everyone heads home feeling good about the result.

For Ron, these are exactly the moments that show why Okuma Benelux and Jan van Dam Machine Transport have been working together for sixteen years.

The machines and projects may change, but the foundation of the partnership remains the same: knowing each other, keeping agreements and working together to make sure the job is done properly for the customer.
