Thorough Preparation and Clear Overview
Months before the start of the event, the Jan van Dam project manager contacts all exhibitors. We collect information on which machines will be exhibited and where they need to be picked up and returned. Based on the exhibition layout and floor plan, we create an efficient time schedule for both setup and teardown. From this information, we produce a complete operations plan — including pickup times, transport schedules, and placement sequences.
The machines are collected from factories, showrooms, and warehouses using Jan van Dam’s trucks — with several of these trips carried out using electric vehicles. On the exhibition floor, two truck-mounted cranes, five forklifts, and Jan van Dam’s specialist team are on-site to position the machines precisely at each stand. The setup takes three days, while teardown is completed in one.

During both setup and teardown, a dedicated project manager from Jan van Dam is always on-site. This person monitors the schedule, coordinates the teams, and liaises with the exhibitors’ project leaders and technicians. This approach provides structure, calm, and clarity.
“We notice that customers really appreciate that we coordinate everything,” says Niels Hofman, Project Manager at Jan van Dam. “They don’t have to arrange their own transport or wait for the exhibition organizer. Everything runs according to plan, with short communication lines.”
METAVAK is a great example of what We cover it all means in practice for Jan van Dam. Every step is handled in-house — from planning and transport to lifting and final placement on the exhibition floor. Thanks to years of experience with METAVAK, the team knows exactly what’s needed to keep the event running smoothly.
Next March, the next major trade show is already on the agenda: Technishow at the Jaarbeurs Utrecht. Jan van Dam will again take care of the logistical coordination — this time in collaboration with DB Schenker.
